I believe this is a good representation of what black people would be living in during the
great depression. During the great depression there were few jobs and the most of the
people who had jobs white. Most of the African Americans were living in shacks like this
or living on the streets with only little income.

started. this picture was taken in Greensboro Alabama. People i the south were normally
poor and couldn't afford to pay for the luxuries like getting your car fixed.

McCollun Grocery co. and the guy standing out side looks like a moonshiner from the south.
he could have been a wealthy plantation owner who owned the store based off his clothing.

The people during the this time were tough and hard working people who earned there livings doing manual labor. Some jobs included iron workers who saw men die many times and many people got injuries, one case is where Chris Thorsten got crushed between a crane and he broke his collar bone and all his Ribs.. Another man by the name of Mr. Garavelli was a stone mason, he worked for many years but never got silica from mixing thecement. Mrs. Marrie Haggerty was a maid during the 1930's, she got tested by her house owners. someone left a 5 dollar bill besides the bed and she knew she was being tested to see if she would take the bait. Another lady by the name of Anna Novak work in the stockyards for a long time and she said the only way to get better pay and move up in the ranks is to give a little. Finaly a man named Jim Cole was a butcher in a factory and stayed at the same posision for 20 years and when he asked to join the union they just say no gave no reason but he was a negro.
